Welcome to the Blurbery. My name’s Jamaila, and I’m an author who loves blurbs. I frequently write the blurb for any given project before I do anything else, which is apparently not the order in which normal people do things. But I love taking a story idea and shaping it into a piece of what is, effectively, marketing copy. I like to think about what will make readers sit up and take notice. I want them to one-click your book, or carry it up to the cash register, or just plain download it immediately.
A good blurb isn’t about telling the reader what’s going to happen in your book. It’s about making them want to find out. Let me help you build that intrigue! I’ve been rewriting and creating blurbs for fellow authors for a few years now, and it’s time to bring my services to a wider audience. I can’t wait to work with you!
A little bit about me: I have a degree in Technical Communication, which is known colloquially as ‘How To Earn A Living With An English Degree.’ I spent ten years as a technical writer, producing documents that condensed complicated technical information into punchy, palatable text for non-technical sales executives. It turned out to be pretty good practice. I live in suburban Maryland with my husband and twin children, and I write both historical fantasy and contemporary romance. I grew up reading science fiction and fantasy, and later expanded my reading habits to romance in many subgenres, as well as mysteries and contemporary fiction.
